Adding a method
Go to You, then Payout method, then Add a method. We pay heads by bank. You see the method your country offers:
| Where you live | Method |
|---|---|
| UK, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey | UK bank |
| US, Canada | Bank account |
| Everywhere else we pay | Bank transfer |
Bank payouts need Tier 2 (ID verified). Until then the method stays in the list, grayed out, with the reason, for example "Verify your ID (Tier 2) to add a bank account". Where ID checks haven't opened yet, it says so, and what you earn stays in your balance.
- UK bank: sort code, account number and the name on the account. We check the name with the bank (Confirmation of Payee) and show you the result. Paid in pounds.
- Bank account or bank transfer: the name on the account and the details your country needs, such as an IBAN or a routing number. The form asks for exactly what your bank's country needs and tells you which detail to fix. Paid in your bank's currency.
The rates by country page lists the method for every country we pay.
Changing your bank details
Choose Change details next to the account, enter the new details and confirm it's you. The new details replace the ones on file. You can't change them while a payout to that account is on its way; try again once it has arrived.
Why we ask you to confirm it's you
Adding a payout method that is not already on file is the moment a stolen account would try to move money. So it asks for a code sent to your verified phone and, at Tier 2 or above, a photograph of your ID and a live face photo. Adding the same destination again does not ask.
PayPal, Venmo and Tremendous
We no longer send payouts to PayPal, Venmo or Tremendous. If you added one before, it stays in your list marked No longer available, and you can remove it. A payout that was already on its way to it still goes out. To withdraw, add a bank account.
What we store
Bank details are held by our payment provider, Wise, not by us. We keep a token and the last four characters so you can tell your methods apart. A PayPal email or Venmo number you added before stays stored encrypted until you remove it.
Removing a method
Choose Remove next to the method (in the app, You, then Payout method) and confirm it's you. It leaves your list right away.
- You can't remove a method while a payout to it is on its way. A payout that is queued, held or sent but not yet arrived counts. You'll be told that a payout to this method is on its way. Try again once it has arrived.
- If it was your default, the oldest other confirmed method becomes the default. If you have no other confirmed method, you'll have no default.
- You need a method to be paid. Automatic month-end payouts need a confirmed default method, and you can't withdraw without one. Add another method before you remove your last, and before the end of the month. Money you have earned stays in your balance.
- Removing a method doesn't cancel anything already paid out.
Default method
Mark one method as default. It's used for the automatic month-end payout.
Name matching for Tier 3 (Established)
At Tier 3 the payout account must be in your own name. If the name doesn't match, the payout is returned and we explain what to change.
If we can't pay to a method
If we stop sending payouts to one of your methods, we email you and it shows as failed. It can't be added again, to your account or anyone else's. Add another method to keep getting paid. A payout that was waiting for it is on hold while we look at it, and the money is still yours.
