A team lets several people ask from one pool of credits. Credits are the units in a balance that pay for answers. Everyone signs in as themselves, and every question shows who asked it.

Open Team in the portal. To ask from the team's credits, switch to it with the account switcher.

Start a team and invite people

  1. In Team, name your team and choose Make the team. You become its owner.
  2. Under Invite someone, enter an email address and choose a role.
  3. We email a link that works for 7 days. The person signs in with that email address and accepts. Until they do, they show as invited.

A person can own one team of their own, and belong to as many as they are invited to. Inside an organization, admins can make more teams, and a person can own one in each organization: see Teams in an organization.

Invitations sent to your address also show on your Team page, where you can join or decline them.

What each role can do

Role Can do
Owner Everything, including admins, monthly limits and handing the team over.
Admin Members, roles, monthly limits, keys and apps, and billing. Only the owner adds or removes admins.
Member Asks from the team's credits and sees every team question.
Viewer Sees the team's questions and results only.
Billing Tops up the team's credits and sees its invoices and ledger.

You can change a role at any time in Team.

Monthly limits

The owner or an admin can give each member a monthly limit in credits. A question that would go over the limit is refused before any credits are spent. Limits reset on the 1st of each month, UTC. Leave it empty for no limit. Only the owner sets limits for admins.

Keys and apps members make

A key or a connected app that someone makes while the team is in use spends the team's credits. The owner and admins see them under Keys and apps in Team: its name, who made it, what it can do, what it spent today and when it was last used. You never see a secret.

From there you can:

  • change a key's or app's daily and per-question caps, including the Zapier connection a member made;
  • revoke it. Anything using it stops at once.

You can't change what a key or app is allowed to do. Ask the member to make a new one. Every change goes in the audit log. When a member leaves or is removed, the keys and apps they made for the team stop working.

Leave a team

Any member who isn't the owner can leave. In Team, choose Leave team and confirm. You lose access to the team's questions and credits. The keys and apps you made for it stop working. To come back, you need a new invitation. Your own personal account isn't affected.

Hand over a team

The owner can't leave a team that has nobody in charge. Hand it over first:

  1. In Team, go to Hand over the team.
  2. Confirm it's you when asked. The check lasts 10 minutes.
  3. Choose an active member who doesn't already own another team in the same organization, and choose Hand over.

They become the owner and you become an admin. Only they can hand it back. The change goes in the audit log.

Close a team

The owner can close a team that's no longer needed. Unused credits go back to the card that bought them, and its keys and apps stop working. See Closing a team.
