Verifying a phone number moves you from Tier 0 to Tier 1, which unlocks paid questions.

How it works

  1. In the app, go to You, then Verify my phone (or tap the prompt on the Answer tab).
  2. Check the country and type your phone number.
  3. We send a six-digit code by text message or, in some countries, WhatsApp.
  4. Type the code. That's it.

Which numbers we accept

  • One real phone number per account, and one account per number.
  • Virtual numbers, VoIP numbers and numbers from online SMS services are refused.
  • Your number's country becomes your country for pay, currency and tax. It only changes if you verify a number from another country, which we review.

If the code doesn't arrive

  • Wait a minute: some networks are slow.
  • Check the number and country code.
  • Tap Resend. You can resend a few times an hour.
  • If you're abroad, make sure roaming texts are allowed.
  • Still nothing? Contact us with your country and network, never the code.

When we ask again

We ask you to confirm the same number once a month if you earned that month, and whenever you sign in on a new phone or change your payout method.

What we keep

Your number, while your account exists, so it can't be used for a second account. If you close your account we delete it and keep only a scrambled copy for 12 months.
