An organization can hold several teams. Each team has its own members, credits and questions. Organization admins make teams, choose the main one and bring existing teams in. A team's owner still runs the team.

Teams in an organization are switched on gradually, with the rest of organizations. If you don't see Teams in Settings, then Organization, it isn't on for you yet.

Make a team in the organization

  1. Open Settings, then Organization and choose Open teams.
  2. Confirm it's you when asked. The check lasts 10 minutes.
  3. Under New team, give it a name, choose its owner and, if you like, a cost center.

The owner can be you, or anyone already in one of the organization's teams. A person can own one team in each organization. Owning a team in one organization doesn't stop them owning one in another.

Each team has its own credits. Credits are never moved between teams.

The main team

One team is the organization's main team. People who join through your verified domain, SCIM or single sign-on go there unless your settings say otherwise.

The main team's owner can choose another one with Make it the main team. Organization events, such as a new team being made, go to the main team's webhooks.

Move an existing team into the organization

A team that is on its own can join your organization. Its members, credits, questions and history move with it.

  1. Ask the team's owner for its Team ID. They find it on their Team page.
  2. In Move a team in, enter the ID and choose Send the request.
  3. We email the owner. They accept or decline on their Team page within 14 days. They confirm it's them before accepting.

When they accept, the team's old organization is closed. Its activity log is kept.

A team can't move while:

  • its organization has other teams;
  • its organization has a verified domain, single sign-on or SCIM (remove them first);
  • its owner already owns a team in your organization;
  • it has asks waiting for a spend approval.

You can withdraw a request that is still waiting.

Invitations and people across teams

In People, organization admins see everyone in every team, and every invitation not accepted yet.

  • Resend sends a new link that works for 7 days. The old link stops working.
  • Revoke cancels an invitation.
  • Open someone to change their role in one team.
  • Remove from the organization takes someone out of every team. The keys and apps they made for those teams stop working. Their own account stays.

You can't remove someone who owns a team here: hand the team over first. People your identity provider manages are removed there, through SCIM.

If someone invited you, the invitation also shows on your Team page. You can join or decline it there.

Cost centers

A cost center is a label your finance team uses, such as CC-4410. It can be up to 60 characters.

  • Organization admins set a team's cost center in Teams. It's printed on the invoices the team gets from then on.
  • A team's owners and admins can give a project its own cost center in Projects. A project's cost center comes before its team's.
  • Spend by cost center shows what each team spent in a month, by cost center, with a CSV download.
