MCP is a way for a compatible AI assistant to use outside tools. The 50heads MCP server lets an AI assistant ask a question of verified people on your behalf: by default, fifty heads, who are the people who answer questions on 50heads. The hosted server is at https://mcp.50heads.com/mcp.
Adding it
- Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http 50heads https://mcp.50heads.com/mcp - Claude: Settings, then Connectors, then add a custom connector with the URL.
- Cursor: add the URL to
~/.cursor/mcp.json. - ChatGPT: Settings, then Apps and connectors, then add a connector with the URL.
The first time, your browser opens a 50heads page. Sign in, check what the assistant is asking for, and set a daily spend cap. That's the consent: the assistant can spend up to the cap without asking you each time.
For hosts that only run local servers, use npx -y @50heads/mcp with an API key. The MCP docs have the config for each host.
Where to find 50heads
- Hosted server:
https://mcp.50heads.com/mcp. Available now. - npm:
npx -y @50heads/mcp, for hosts that run a local command. Available now. - Official MCP Registry: as
com.50heads/mcp. Available now. - Directories: the Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor directories, Smithery, Glama, PulseMCP and mcp.so. Coming soon. Until then, add the hosted server yourself as above.
What the assistant can do
The server has nine tools, and each takes an action. The assistant can estimate a question (free), ask it, wait for and read results, list recent questions, cancel a live one, see templates and check the balance. It can also file questions in projects and labels, set up webhooks, search this Help and send feedback. A connection made by an organization admin can read the organization and its audit log, but not change them. It can't buy credits, see payout details or answer questions.
Ask for a go or no go
Give the assistant a yes-or-no question and your line. For example:
Ask 50 heads "Would you pay £4.00 a month for this?" and tell me it's a go if Yes is above 60%.
The assistant sets a go line on the question. The result says Go, No go or Unclear, with the Yes share and its 95% range. In the API the field is goRule, for example { "goAbove": 0.6, "minAnswers": 40 }. The line costs nothing extra and can't change once the question is live.
Ask from Slack
To ask from Slack instead, without an assistant, add the 50heads Slack app. See Use 50heads in Slack.
Ask from Zapier
To ask from a Zap, and start Zaps when a question finishes, connect 50heads in Zapier. See Use 50heads with Zapier.
Good habits for assistants
Ask the assistant to show you the estimate before it asks. Short, single questions work best; the 50heads Agent Skill teaches assistants how to write them.
What happens to your data
We don't use your questions, the answers you buy or the reasons heads write to train AI models, and we don't sell them. What the assistant reads from 50heads is handled by your assistant's provider under its own terms. More in AI and your data.
Stopping it
In Developers, under Connections, you can lower the cap, remove scopes or revoke the connection. Revoking takes effect within a second.
