How a price is worked out
Total = number of people × price per answer. The price per answer starts with the tier's price and changes with the factors below.
- Verification tier
- More verification costs more. See the tiers above.
- Reading length
- Longer questions take longer to read. Up to 150 characters: × 1.0. Up to 300: × 1.1. Longer: × 1.25.
- Answer type
- Ranking and free text take more work. Pick one, A or B, yes or no, a 1–5 scale: × 1.0. This or that, pick several: × 1.1. Ranking: × 1.3. Free text: × 2, and it needs Tier 2 or above.
- Images and audio
- Each image or sound clip adds 7 credits to every answer.
- Rush
- Shown to heads before other questions: × 1.5.
- Your audience
- A flat 5 credits per accepted answer. No tier, rush or image add-ons. The first 100 accepted answers every calendar month are free, for each account or team. Free answers are used first; unused ones come back when the question closes.

Questions about pricing
Is there a subscription?
No. You buy credits when you need them and spend them an answer at a time.
What if fewer heads answer than I asked for?
You pay only for the answers you get. If a question closes short, the rest goes back to your balance right away.
Can I cancel a question?
Yes, while it is live. Answers already given are paid for and the rest is refunded to your balance.
How much goes to the heads?
60% of every answer's price goes to the head who gave it. A Tier 1 answer pays them $0.15.
Do I get an invoice?
Yes, with every purchase. 50heads isn't registered for VAT yet, so the price you see is the price you pay. EU businesses with a valid VAT number are reverse charged.
Why are asks priced in credits?
Credits keep the price of an ask the same wherever you are, whatever the exchange rate. Credit packs are shown in your currency at the day's rate, and checkout charges the currency you pick.
Can I ask my own customers?
Yes. Choose Your audience when you ask and we give you a link to share. The first 100 accepted answers each month are free. After that each one costs 5 credits, reserved when you publish and refunded for answers you don't get. These people are not verified by 50heads, and every result says so.
